INT. DINER — NIGHT
2 a.m. A flickering neon sign,
and the last booth by the window.
He shows up every night at the same time.
Always the same order: one black coffee.
Cocoa-brown cap pulled low,
he opens a half-read paperback.
No one knows his name.
No one knows what he does for a living.
Only that the inside of his coat
always looks a little too heavy.
The turning of pages goes on until just before dawn.
And as the sky begins to pale,
he leaves the exact change on the table — and disappears.
FADE OUT.
